Getting to Nabiac and the cottage
Nabiac is just off the Pacific Highway between Newcastle and Port Macquarie, on the Barrington Coast. It's an easy drive from anywhere on the mid north coast and a comfortable half-day from Sydney.
Drive times
| From | Drive time | Distance | Route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | 3 hr 30 min | 290 km | M1 Pacific Motorway north |
| Newcastle | 1 hr 45 min | 150 km | M1 and Pacific Highway |
| Port Macquarie | 1 hr 30 min | 125 km | Pacific Highway south |
| Taree | 30 min | 35 km | Pacific Highway south |
| Forster | 25 min | 28 km | The Lakes Way |
Times assume a clear run. Add half an hour or more out of Sydney on a Friday afternoon or the start of school holidays.
Flying in
The nearest airport is Taree (Manning River Airport), about 30 minutes away, with limited regional services. Newcastle Airport at Williamtown is the practical choice — about 1 hour 30 minutes south, with flights from Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra. Port Macquarie Airport is roughly 1 hour 30 minutes north.
You'll need a car. There's no public transport to the property and no taxi rank nearby. Hire cars are available at both Newcastle and Port Macquarie airports.
Arrival notes
- Turn off the Pacific Highway at the Nabiac exit and follow the road through the village. We'll send the exact address and the last few turns with your check-in message.
- The last stretch is a well-maintained gravel farm drive. Any car handles it; just take it slowly and watch for stock.
- Close the gate behind you if you find it closed.
- Park at the cottage door. Self check-in with a lockbox, any time after 3pm.
- Phone reception drops out in patches along the last few kilometres — download your directions before you leave the highway.
